MT5 Grey Label Solution for Forex Brokers

Get your brokerage live on MetaTrader 5 with your own brand, your own client groups and your own trading conditions, running on server infrastructure that is already in place.

Most people who ask us about an MT5 grey label are at the same point. They have a business plan, some idea of their target market and often a few hundred potential clients from earlier IB or affiliate work. What they don’t want is to spend a large part of their budget on platform infrastructure before they know how the brokerage will perform.

A grey label solves that. You trade under your own name on MT5, and you control the clients, the pricing and the sales. You just don’t have to build or maintain the server environment underneath. If the business grows the way you expect, you can move to a bigger setup later.

Platform Architecture

What Is an MT5 Grey Label?

There are a few ways a broker can offer MetaTrader 5 to clients. The main differences between them come down to who owns the server environment and how much you can configure on your own.

With a grey label, your brokerage sits inside an MT5 server that a provider already operates and holds the platform arrangement for. Within that server you get your own space: separate groups for your clients, trading conditions you set within agreed limits and manager access so your team can handle daily operations.

Clients don’t see any of this. They install MT5, connect to your brokerage, log in through your client portal and deal with your support team. As far as they’re concerned, they are trading with you, because they are.

If you’ve worked as an introducing broker, think of it as the step after that. Clients now belong to your brand, and you decide the conditions. A white label is the step after that again, with more control over the platform itself.

Grey label and gray label are the same thing, by the way. Both spellings are common.

Who Is It For?

Grey label works well for founders who are launching for the first time and want to see real trading numbers before committing to something larger. It’s also common with introducing brokers who have built a client base on someone else’s brand and want to move those clients across to their own.

We also see a lot of regional brokers using it to enter a new country. Opening a market always involves some guesswork, and a grey label keeps the technology cost in proportion while you find out how much demand there is.

Then there are businesses that aren’t brokers yet but are close to it, such as trading education companies, signal communities and payment businesses. For them, offering trading accounts is an addition to an existing business, and a grey label lets them do that without building a full brokerage tech team.

Where it fits less well: if you already know you’ll need deep server-level control, custom plugins or several legal entities on one setup, you’ll probably find the limits frustrating. In that case it makes more sense to look at our MT5 white label solution from the start.

Included Capabilities

Key Features

Here’s what you get with our MT5 grey label solution:

  • Branding across the client side, including the server name clients connect to, your client portal and all communications
  • Separate client groups, so you can divide clients by account type, region or IB and apply different settings to each
  • Account types such as standard, raw spread, swap-free or VIP, configured within what the server allows
  • Your own markups on spreads, set per group or account type
  • A choice of tradable symbols from what’s available on the server, which usually includes forex pairs and often metals, indices and commodities
  • Restricted manager access, so your dealing and support staff can view accounts and positions and handle client requests
  • Standard MT5 terminals for clients on Windows, Mac, web, iOS and Android
  • A connection to your CRM, so accounts, balances and client data stay in sync
  • Reports on volumes, deposits, client activity and IB performance

End-to-End Client Journey

How It Works

The easiest way to understand a grey label is to follow a client through it.

Someone lands on your website and fills in the registration form. That information goes straight into your CRM, where they upload documents and complete KYC. Once your compliance team approves them, an MT5 account is created automatically in the right group, with the right leverage and spread settings attached.

They deposit through one of your payment methods. The balance appears in their trading account. They open MT5 on their phone, log in to your server and place a trade, which is executed through the liquidity connected to the server environment.

At no point does the client deal with the provider. Your team handles everything client-facing. The provider looks after the server, platform updates and the infrastructure that keeps it all running.

Connected Brokerage Ecosystem

Integrations

On its own, the grey label is just a trading environment. What turns it into a working brokerage is everything connected to it. We usually connect:

  • Your forex broker CRM, which handles onboarding, account creation and client management
  • An identity verification provider for KYC
  • Payment providers for deposits and withdrawals
  • Registration forms on your broker website
  • IB and affiliate tracking, so commissions are calculated correctly
  • Reporting tools for your management and finance teams

Some brokers start on the server’s liquidity and later want their own arrangements. If that’s in your plans, our forex liquidity and bridge team can work out the move with you well before you need it.

Practical Launch Economics

Why Brokers Start Here

Cost is the obvious reason. You’re not paying for a dedicated platform environment, its licensing or its hosting before you’ve signed your first client. For a new brokerage, that money is usually better spent on marketing, compliance and a good sales team.

Workload is the second reason. Server maintenance, MT5 updates and uptime monitoring happen at the server level. Your staff spend their time on clients, not infrastructure.

It’s also quicker to get going, because most of the work is configuration and integration rather than building anything from scratch.

And it doesn’t lock you in. Plenty of brokers run on a grey label for a year or two, build up volume and then move to a white label. When that happens, the brand, the client relationships and the CRM data all move with them. By then they also have something much more useful than a forecast, which is real data on what their clients trade and which markets bring in business.

Deployment Process

How We Set It Up

It starts with a call about your plans: where you want to operate, who your clients are, what account types you need and what kind of volume you expect in the first months.

From that, we put together a configuration plan covering groups, trading conditions, symbols and the systems we’ll connect. You review it and sign off before we touch anything.

Then we set up your segment on the server and apply your branding. After that we connect the CRM, KYC, payments and website. Before launch we run full test journeys, from registration and verification through deposit, a trade and a withdrawal, so any problems come up while it’s still just us testing.

After you go live, we watch the first few weeks closely. After that, support continues as normal for new account types, spread changes, extra integrations and whatever else comes up.

Operations & Governance

Support

When something needs changing, you’ll speak with the people who configured your setup and know how your groups and integrations are put together. That saves a lot of time compared with explaining everything to a general help desk.

We also agree at the start who is responsible for what: our part, the server provider’s part and your business’s part. It sounds like admin, but it prevents a lot of confusion later.

Licensing

An MT5 grey label is a technology arrangement. It doesn’t give your business a licence and doesn’t replace one. Whether you need to be licensed or registered, and under which rules, depends on where you’re based, where your clients are and how your business is structured. Please get legal advice for your target markets before launch. We regularly work alongside clients’ legal and compliance advisers on the technical side.

MT5 Grey Label Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is a grey label different from a white label?

With a grey label you run inside a server environment the provider operates, and you can change settings within agreed limits. A white label gives you a more dedicated setup and much more freedom to configure it. Grey label is cheaper to start, and white label suits brokers who need that extra control.

2. Will clients know I’m on a grey label?

No. They sign up through your website, use your portal, connect to your server name and speak to your team.

3. Can I upgrade to a white label later?

Yes, and many brokers do. We plan the migration so your clients, brand and CRM data move across with as little disruption as possible.

4. Do I need a licence?

That depends on your jurisdiction, client base and business model. Requirements vary a lot from one country to another, so speak to a local legal adviser.

5. Can I set my own spreads?

Yes. You add your own markups by group or account type, within the limits of the server arrangement.

6. What can my clients trade?

Forex pairs as standard, and often metals, indices and commodities as well. We’ll go through the exact symbol list with you during the first call.

7. How do I choose an MT5 grey label provider?

Ask how responsibilities are divided, how the server is monitored, how well they integrate with CRMs and payment providers, and who you’ll actually speak to when something goes wrong. Be cautious with any forex grey label offer that promises guaranteed approval or a launch in a couple of days.

8. How much does it cost?

It depends on your configuration and what needs connecting. Book a demo and we’ll put together a quote.
